Give some link love... get some link love...
Have you ever ventured outside of ActiveRain to read? My venture out has inspired me, improved my writing and changed the things that I feature here at ActiveRain.
My Celebration Florida Homes Blog, is benefitting from my exploring outside of ActiveRain.
Let me make it easy for you to start - check out some of the familiar faces from ActiveRain. Many members of ActiveRain have outside Blogs -- go check out what they are doing!
These are our friends, lets give them some support. Leave a comment there, get some link love.
Remember Pay it Forward... Write about an ActiveRain Member, link to their outside blog/website instead of their ActiveRain profile or blog.
Internal links in ActiveRain are nice, but giving an external link is more powerful in the bigger picture.
Give out some link love!

Colleen - thank you for mentioning my outside blog - I've actually been doing more exploring out in the blogosphere and it's great to visit familiar faces and take my "blogging education" to the next level. Thanks for giving me a great list of blogs to visit..not sure I've stopped by them all before but you're right - commenting there is appreciated as much or more (due to the scarcity of them) and it's a great way to keep the reciprocity going.
You are such a great community leader - thanks for being so supportive of us all.
Cyndee -- my pleasure... And thanks!
George -- I made it a priority to check some exterior BLOGS. You don't need to stop reading here, just change your hapbits a little bit... It is worth it later on...
George... that means you need to focus on those people who write lead-in posts and go to their outside blogs so you can get the most from your comments!
focus on 10 a day - you don't need 600
Am going to comment on every one of them tomorrow. seems my better 7/8ths just informed me I have plans for the evening in about a half hour. And am going to enjoy every minute of it, or else!
Thanks for bringing this up. It's something we all must do, so after your list, then it's eveyone we've subscribed and so on.
Cheers...
Gary -- Have fun!
Everyone -- it is all about the Link Love....
Lately I have been getting invites to other real estate and mortgage blogging communities and I will be linking to them.....
"Link love" with the right professionals is a good thing, Colleen.... I agree!!
=-)
Hi Colleen - I have GOT to learn to go to outside blogs and see what's going on out in the real world. I have checked out a couple of these, but tend to hang around AR mostly. The other blogs that I have visited are just so well-done! Not only do I need to get outside to other blogs, but I've got to get my own outside blog going.
Thanks for the reminder - to get going on multiple tasks!
Ann
Howdy Colleen
I liked reading your post a lot,
Here is a 5 for it.
Have a good one
I prefer the backlinks and appreciate the reminder..love the post! I get into a routine and forget to refresh and be sure I am making the best out of my time and input.
Colleen... I totally agree with this. And yes, David makes a good point which I made in this post, How do you view outside blogs? Even if you see people that write a blog here on AR that leads you to their outside blog, go make a comment on that outside blog. Gee, if you are too lazy to write two comments, copy that comment and come back and post it in the AR community, the blog that you read here.
My personal opinion, people like to be noticed that they left comments here in the Rain. They also don't realize that your comment on the outside can sometimes be picked up while being search. Google search your name, you will see your name appear from those comments that you left on outside blogs. Google doesn't pick up on this when commenting here on AR.
Colleen.... this is a great point and I just don't understand why more don't do this. Good post.
How does members only protect from getting linked to the outside world..???
Colleen,
What a wonderful idea and we appreciate you pointing it out! Thanks!
Colleen,
What a wonderful idea and we appreciate you pointing it out! Thanks!
I will have to go and check out some of these outside blogs! And I really need to get going myself! BUT I want to point out one thing, on my blog log someone googled a Realtor with the first name Bernadette in Alabama, I had a blog comment from a Bernadette (different last name) I came up on the first page of that search. Interesting!
I am relativly new to blogging, but I started blogging else where first, and still do. I just post my blogs on both places. There are some great real estate blogs all over the web. There are some great real estate blogs here too. I have already been inspired by many of you, and I've only been here a week.
Stephen Wolfe
Colleen,
Nice post and a great tip that to help succeed in building a great blog, build relationships with other bloggers - even if they are on a different platform!
Hi Colleen,
I love to venture outside the rain to read others blogs, and I love it when others read mine. I am not that great about commenting outside the rain, but I should, and will! Thanks for the reminder. Off to check out the blogosphere...
Colleen -
I have read a couple of the outside blogs you mentioned. You've made it pretty easy to find some more, so thank you. I will take some time to check them out.
George -- really it isn't that tough... You will find the balance..
Alex - so very true!
Ann, Lisa & Robert -- You are very welcome!
Ann C. -- You are welcome. I dragged my feet for weeks. And then I got challenged by Laurie Manny and I was hooked!
Sharon --- RSS Readers are nice, but I like to read a blog, they link to another blog, go read there, find a link and hop onto another blog. I would never have discovered some really interesting sites had I just stuck with what I am familiar with.
Dale -- Thaks for the 5!
Michelle -- Backlinks are terrific! I am not sure about your question -- Why wouldn't you want people to link to you?
Jeff -- Thanks for the interesting point, I would have appreciated you asking first to put the link in, not doing so can be considered Comment Spam. What people are missing is that commenting on somone else's BLOG is beneficial to the person leaving it. Yes 25 points at AR are nice, but wouldn't you like a backlilnk to your website?
Ryan -- This is why so many members put the lead in posts -- Link Love! Some members hate having to read it elsewhere. When in truth they are giving a gift to the members here at ActiveRain -- the opportunity for backlinks!
Kim -- It is wonderful to see how we are discovered ov
er the Internet...
Stephen -- be careful of duplicate content. Google will punish you.
Tracey --- it is a big world out there!
Charles -- yes a great resource!
Ashley -- Yea!
Paul & Michelle -- Absolutely!
Ginger -- sometimes it is a little intimidating to comment outside, they have been spoiled with the back and forth and play that happens here. Yes Laurie Manny is a master at it...
David & Kristin -- You are welcome!
Matthew -- Link love... gotta love it...
Margaret -- We all had a starting point. Don't worry yours will develop as time goes by.. Remember Rome wasn't built in a day!
EVERYONE -- If you have an outside BLOG and want people to check it out, please feel free to put in your link in your comment!
You always share interesting ideas. Thanks.
Since you gave the greenlight, here is the link to my outside blog, BlogbytheBay.com.
Check it out if you want to know more about Marin County, California!
Ginger -- Nice job on your BLOG!
Al -- You are welcome!
Jeff -- no need, just wanted to make sure others understand the guidelines around here...
JR -- Thanks!
TLW -- You are the comment Queen! Want to give a link to Broker Bryant's outside BLOG?
Mariana -- You are very welcome! I look forward to your changes!
Maureen -- You are welcome.. I thought it might be a good idea to send members off on a little tour...
Ashley -- thanks for visiting my site...
We did everyone of them as advertised... except could not find a comment link for Cindy Cross. It was fun, informative, and a very worthwhile tour.
Not long ago we read something from TLW about reciprocity, and if I remember from you too, and that very much helped us understand and get more involved with AR.
I think this post is equally important. It means going outside of AR too. Thanks again.
BTW, which is the best outside blog for you?
Carole -- You are welcome....It is hard to find people's outside BLOGs... Perhaps someone will come up with another list for people to take a little tour...
Gary -- Glad that you enjoyed it... Keep touring... It is fun
Linda -- You are welcome... You have a great blog!
Rick & Ines -- See how fast things change?
Colleen
Beth Butler just told me that you mentioned my SBCB. That is so kind. I just got home now from the airport from San Fran. I'm a mess. Will read all this week---. I just got your email, too.
Thanks for including me.
Nite, nite.
Colleen, thank you for the mention. Reading outside of AR is always good...gives perspective and love at the same time...doesn't have to be Real Estate related, either.
Kevin, nite, nite. I know how you feel...it is exhausting, isn't it? JUST A SMALL HIJACK!
Teresa -- What a great idea! I will have to take that on...
Kevin -- you are welcome... Your vmail was filled --- phone tag you are it...
Ines -- Teresa came up with a great idea didn't she?
Gena -- you are very welcome...
Great idea, Colleen. I will peruse those blogs and try to make sure I hit other members outside blogs when I see a link to them. I will take you up on your offer to provide my outside blog for others to check out, http://myclosingspace.blogspot.com
I have one question though, why is the Manhattan Real Estate Blog no-followed while the others on your list are not?
HI Colleen. Thanks for the link love.
Mark: What does no-followed mean? Manhattan real estate blog is mine. I had to delete a post today if that matters.
Mark, Thanks for the explanation. I need the juice more than the love lol. I thought there was something wrong with my blog.
